The Unmasking

My hand trembles, jerks

It wants to grab the mask

To raise it up, to hide behind

So others cannot see the pain.

My heart says no, put it down

It wants to be seen, heard

To not be ignored, but be allowed

To come out of hiding.

My mind grapples with all this

It dashes back and forth

This way and that

Seeking logic and finding none.

Maybe, whispers another voice

Maybe, there’s another way

Why not just be still, and wait

And See….
