  1. One of my favorite quotations – I even have it on my “About” page. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for three years, and used to go over to Muir woods to hike. It was a beautiful place. I enjoyed it then. Now, thirty-five years later, I appreciate Muir even more.

    • Just lately I’ve been re-watching some films I first saw back in the 1990’s, and have found my appreciation for them has increased. This I put down to my greater understanding of issues portrayed – surely one of the positive aspects of getting older is this gaining in understanding. I can see I need to read more of Muir’s work, as this quote certainly resonated with me.
